Abstract

This paper proposes a novel digital current controller for dc-dc converters having high performance and independent of converter parameters and components values. Similar to analog controllers, the proposed digital controller uses the output voltage and the inductor current to establish the double loop control structure. The proposed controller requires only few calculations to run the control algorithm; therefore it is also applicable to high switching frequency converters. The theoretical analysis of the proposed controller along with its operational principle is described in this paper. A 1 kW isolated boost converter is built to validate the proposed controller; the controller algorithm is implemented in an FPGA. The experimental results show the excellent performance of the controller.
