Abstract
This paper presents a new architecture for RF predistortion linearizer that has the novel feature to provide independent control of phase/gain response for achieving optimal distortion compensation. There are many RF predistortion linearizer designs that provide control for the gain expansion to compensate the AM/AM non-linearity of the power amplifier. However, when the gain expansion is adjusted, the phase response will also change. This leads to the power amplifier not being optimally compensated. To overcome this limitation, we have developed a RF predistortion linearizer that features an independent control of gain/phase response. The test and measurement are performed together with an in-house developed Ka-band solid-state power amplifier. The measurement results are presented to show the improvement to the linearity of the power amplifier.
