Abstract

ABSTRACT In this work, a novel dry vibrating high-gradient magnetic separator (DVHGMS) has been developed for purification of potash feldspar by eliminating iron ores. The vibration is aimed to disperse and separate the mineral particles. The study has been performed by approaching into the influences of magnetic induction, height of matrix, vibrating amplitude and frequency of matrix on the separation. It has been found that the vibration significantly helped to eliminate the particle aggregation and thus to improve the separation. At the optimized parameter values, the DVHGMS could purify the potash feldspar from the Fe2O3 grade of 0.191% in feed to 0.035% in non-magnetic product, while the mass weight of feldspar was 92.35%. Obviously, the novel DVHGMS is an efficient magnetic separator to be used in the mines of drought region.
