Abstract

This paper introduces a novel high step up DC- DC converter with low input current ripple. This converter has a coupled inductor and an intermediate capacitor to provide high voltage gain. Thus, it is proper for integration of Renewable Energy Resources (RERs) with low output DC voltage such as photovoltaic, fuel cell. Low input current ripple helps to exert Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) in Photovoltaic (PV) panels. A passive clamp is used in the topology to recover energy of leakage inductance, so voltage tension on the switch is reduced and the switch with lower resistance can be used that leads to lower losses. This converter with low number of turn ratio is able to create high voltage output. Therefore, the size of coupled inductor and its leakage inductance will be reasonable. Duty cycle (D) with proper value besides the existence of leakage inductance, decrease the reverse recovery problem of diodes. Operation procedure of the proposed converter is considered. Simulation results confirm the proper operation of proposed structure.
