Abstract
With the aim of developing fast and granular MonolithicActive Pixels Sensors (MAPS) as new charged particle tracking detectors forhigh energy physics experiments, a new rolling shutter binary pixelarchitecture concept (RSBPix) with in-pixel correlated double sampling, amplification and discrimination is presented. The discriminator featuresauto-zeroing in order to compensate process-related transistor mismatches. In order to validate the pixel, a first monolithic CMOS sensor prototype, including a pixel array of 96 × 64 pixels, has been designed and fabricated inthe Tower-Jazz 0.18 μm CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) process. Results of laboratorytests are presented.
