Abstract

SUMMARYAn investigation of the association of transferrin types with body weights at birth, 3, 6,12 months and first 6-monthly wool yield in Indian sheep showed that variation among transferrin types was a significant source of variation only for yearling weight. Sheep of Tf MB type had the highest yearling weight followed closely by Tf EC. Highest birth weight was recorded in sheep with Tf EM whereas 3-month weight was highest in sheep of Tf EE type. Tf EM sheep had the highest 6-month weight and fleece weight.
