Abstract
A new type of linear motor based on non-resonant vibration with piezoelectric stacks has been investigated. The sandwich-type structure of stator has been produced according to the mechanical properties and the operating principles of piezoelectric stacks. The elliptical trajectory can be excited at driving top and its motion principle has been deduced theoretically. Piezoelectric stacks have extraordinary merits among piezoelectric actuators, which contributes to the steady travel for the motor within a wide range of frequency. The structure of the motor is designed and the prototype machine has been fabricated. The testing of the prototype machine has been completed. It indicated that the motor can operate steadily with the frequency between 1.8KHz and 2.2kHz. and the highest no-load speed is 3.95×10−3m/s at the frequency of 2.05KHz.
