Abstract

Notothylas guizhouensis is described as a new species from Jiangkou County, Guizhou Province, SW China. The species is distinguished easily from the congeners by: 1) columella absent, 2) dehisence line consisting of two rows of brown, thick-walled cells, 3) involucre lacking lamellae, 4) epidermal cells of capsule moderately thick walled, 5) indistinctive equatorial girdle of spore, 6) mature spores dark brown, the proximal face divided into three flat facets by triradiate ridges, facets and distal face vermiculate, and 7) pseudoelaters consisting of 1–10 cells, mostly solitary, linear to plate-like, with weak spiral thickenings.
