Abstract
During a brief visit to Paris in June 1980 I examined material of Dolichos and its immediate allies in connection with the preparation of a monograph of Macrotyloma (Wight & Arn.) Verdc. An unnamed specimen with extraordinarily large flowers was totally unfamiliar to me and proved to be a new species of Alistilus. Although the winging of the style is only just apparent the stipules and foliage confirm this generic placing.
