Abstract
The design details and operational parameters of a new grazing incidence monochromator based on extremely simple motions are described, only two uncoupled accurate goniometer controlled rotations are needed. Operation at the blaze maximum is possible over the whole scanning range of angles of incidence on the grating from 89° to 45°. The instrument will use the source point 16 m away as the entrance slit. Wavelength selection is performed by an off-axis paraboloid-exit slit combination. The working conditions can be optimized for good suppression of higher order radiation, the resolution will be better than 1 230 . The monochromator is built to supply a VUV reflectometer with filtered radiation.
