Abstract

In this paper, a new method for detection and identification of power quality disturbance is proposed: first, the original signals are de-noised by the wavelet transform; second, the beginning and ending time of the disturbance can be detected in the time domain, and a difference signal is formed; third, the type of power quality disturbance signals can be identified by the peak value and period; finally, parameters of disturbance signals can be calculated by fast Fourier transform during the disturbance time period. Based on this, software for detection and identification of power quality disturbance is developed. The application to a case study shows that this method is fast, sensitive, and practical for detection and identification of power quality disturbance
