Abstract

At present a narrow neck (29 mm) in-line color picture tube in combination with a self-convergent deflection yoke is the most widely used TV-display system. This popularity comes from its easy convergence adjustment, low cost and power saving. However, the disadvantage of the system is its limited resolution, because the main lens of the electron gun has been narrowed to about half that of the wide neck delta system. The astigmatic deflection field also deterio- rates resolution at the edge of the picture.
