Abstract
Demonstrating a strong commitment to protect the environment through the use of natural refrigerants the authors decided to use green technology for heat pump application. To implement international Legislation such as the F-Gas Regulation, Kyoto and Montreal Protocols in order to contribute for the reduction of greenhouse gases emissions, in the future it is necessary to replace the R134a refrigerant with natural refrigerants, with lower GWP. This paper has focused on the theoretical study of an air-water HP which works with R134a refrigerant. In this study, simulations with REFPROP software were made for a new mixture, DME and HC as ecological refrigerant alternatives. After the thermodynamically and ecological analysis, the optimum original alternative for this application A1 was chosen.
