Abstract

In this paper, a compact CSRR-loaded right-hand circularly polarized (RHCP) circular-shaped microstrip patch antenna is proposed in dual-band operation. By embedding CSRR slots and tuning stub on the microstrip antenna patches, we can achieve the miniaturization and circular polarization respectively. Besides, the multi-system and dual-band performances are also achieved with the use of two stacked circular microstrip patches. The simulation result is given in this paper. The antenna operates in two frequency bands, with B1=1.5754GHz, B3= 1.2685GHz and bandwidths are 57.8MHz and 29.8MHz, respectively. In addition, the bandwidth of axial ratio (AR<;3dB) in B1 band is 24.4MHz and that in B3 is 28.1MHz. The operating frequency bandwidth and the axial ratio bandwidth in two frequency bands both are exceeding 24MHz. The antenna gains are about 6.47 dB in B1 and 3.63 dB in B3. Meanwhile, the antenna total size is 65mm×65mm×8.28mm. The characteristic of multi-system and the lower size make the antenna suitable for CNSS (compass Navigation Satellite System), GPS, and Galileo terminal applications.
