Abstract

An audio power amplifier system is used worldwide for the amplification of audio signals without any distortion and with high efficiency. The audio signals are obtained from different source of inputs and the amplifier system adopts different topologies of amplifiers in realizing the system. In this paper, an audio power amplifier system uses Class-D topology which adopts Dual Line Dual Phase Carrier (DLDPC) Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) technique to effectively reduce the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) as well as to increase the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). Also the system takes care of the switching losses caused by low amplitude inputs through adopting the power supply switching strategy thus reducing the effect of low modulation index. The MSP430 micro controller is a low power controller used as control unit for the system which monitors and handle faults while providing additional functionalities to the system.
