Abstract
Abstract A computer model has been developed which is capable of predicting the physical condition and corrosion rate inside of a vertical oil well at various depths. These wells can be under naturally flowing or gas lifted conditions. The windows based model contains 4 specific parts, which have been described in detail. The programs which provide the physical descriptions are the temperature program, the phase equilibrium program, and the non-annular flow dynamic program for pressure drop calculation. The model loops until pressure convergence is achieved. At this point various parameters have been selected which predict the uninhibited corrosion rate. An expert system has been developed which adjusts the predicted corrosion rate based on various field parameters.
