Abstract
A method to evaluate mud transport rate is proposed as followed: 1) The mud should be classified according to their nature whether they belong to the first group (Kaolinite) or the second group (Bentonite). 2) For the first group, mud mass transport in mud layer and mud suspension with steady state boundary condition should be considered. For the second group, mud suspension to water layer with unsteady bottom boundary condition should be considered, and 3) Mud mass transport in mud layer can be evaluated by the theoretical formula under the assumption that the mud behaviour is similar to that of viscous fluid.
