Abstract

This article emphasizes the growing need for professional counselors to serve older adults but notes that there is a sparsity of supervision literature specific to the practicum training of such counselors. To ameliorate this dearth of information the authors detail a two semester field practicum model that has been in use for two years in their own institution. Clear guidance is then offered regarding learner responsibilities, faculty and field supervisor roles, field site selection and activities, and curriculum distinctions in the two semester design.
