Abstract

UHF detection method can be effectively applied to online partial discharge monitoring of GIS. But limited to the size of GIS, the UHF antenna needs to be miniaturized to facilitate installation on GIS equipment. This paper designs a miniaturized UHF antenna for partial discharge detection based on the traditional Archimedean spiral antenna after cosine-wave meandered. Simulation and actual test results show that the antenna has ultra-wideband characteristics, good directivity in the working frequency band, and can achieve omnidirectional radiation. At the same time, the antenna voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR)|2 in the 920MHz~3GHz frequency band. The antenna is simple in structure, small in size, 97mm in diameter, and 51mm in section height. The results show that the designed antenna has good performances.
