Abstract

A rapid method for estimating glycoalkaloid levels in potato tubers has been developed. It is basically a screening technique whereby large numbers of samples can be assigned to categories of alkaloid level such as very low, low, medium and high. The elapsed time is typically four hours and the per sample time 12 to 15 minutes when large numbers are run.
