Abstract

This chapter presents an English translation of Francisco Núñez Muley's A Memorandum for the President of the Royal Audiencia and Chancery Court of the City and Kingdom of Granada. Muley argued that the assimilationist laws enacted for converted Muslims violated the capitulations agreed between the Catholic monarchs and the Nazarites in the time of the conquest of Granada. He also speculates as to how the Christians would react if ordered to follow Muslim assimilationist laws.
