Abstract

A model based on various steps in the photocatalytic oxidation process and the steady-state approximation is developed. The model describes variances in phenol oxidation rate from changes in phenol and oxygen concentration. Concentrations of substrate, intermediates and products can be estimated by numerically iterating the rate equation. The rate expression produces Langmuir-Hinshelwood relationships; however, this is due to both photochemical and radical recombination processes.
