Abstract

An activation detector for neutrons with energies typical of D-T fusion which has null response for neutrons below 10.2 MeV has been constructed. The design is based on using a large oxygen containing liquid scintillator to detect the decay of 16N produced in the 16O(n, p) 16N reaction. A detector of this type has been calibrated and the null response to lower energy neutrons demonstrated.
