Abstract

An asymptotic solution for the vector problem of scattering by a perfectly electrically conducting (PEC) wedge is developed and formulated as a modification of that obtained by employing the uniform asymptotic theory (UAT) of diffraction approach. This modified UAT (MUAT) solution is validated via comparison with the eigenfunction series expansion of the exact solution of the problem for varying excitation and observation scenarios, therefore evidencing to correct the standard UAT results which fail for excitation at grazing incidence.
