Abstract
The grouped-wire method is applied to a position sensitive multiwire proportional counter to read out the induced signals on the cathode wires. The induced signals on the cathode wires are collected by the grouped-wire method, which was previously described by the same author. With this method, one can determine positions of electron avalanches by the centroid of the induced charges on the cathode wires. A position resolution of less than 160 μm (lwhm) was obtained for Al K X-rays along the anode wire direction.
