Abstract

Abstract Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) plays an important role in pavement detection and road exploration due to its efficiency. Traditional media parameter inversion algorithms only consider ideal smooth surfaces and neglect the roughness of interfaces, leading to significant errors in practical applications. Therefore, a GPR rough surface-layered medium parameter inversion method based on genetic algorithm is proposed in this paper. The method uses the generalized reflection coefficient and considers the influence of the surface roughness of the medium. Then, a radar echo signal time-domain model is established. Finally, the cost function is optimized by genetic algorithm. The effectiveness and accuracy are validated and analysed by utilizing simulated data through random rough surfaces models.
