Abstract

The study aims to analyze the formation of human capital of Bahia state in the twentieth century, from the theoretical contributions in the areas dedicated to the theme, considering the hand of the quality of active work in some of the main economic agents state. Therefore, we used a survey of theoretical contributions in the areas of Human Capital and Regional Development, the latter especially in the state of Bahia, and documentary research, which was undertaken from the data collection in publications and reports of some economic agents Shared Services Centers and service providers about their recruitment and selection, as well as the profile of the human capital available in Bahia. It was concluded that the formation of human capital is linked to regional development and that in the case of Bahia, for many, mainly historical reasons, this development did not happen as it should. Thus, the major economic agents in the state have to deal with higher costs of human capital training programs, as well as delays in the start of operations.
