Abstract

A short region of the spectrum of Arcturus has been scanned with the doublepass system of the McMath solar spectrometer at Kitt Peak National Observatory. The system is shown to have in practice the advantages it is expected to have in theory over single-pass instruments, although its potential is not fully realized in the observations presented here. The double-pass photometry reveals no significant errors in the Arcturus Atlas.
