Abstract

Environment-oriented product development and costs reduction often go hand in hand. The Environmental Design Cost model [Willems (1995)] has been developed to give companies the possibility to calculate the present and future costs of various environment-friendly changes in product designs. This model calculates the changes in the production costs and the changes in the present value of future end-of-life processing costs.
