Abstract
The pionic decays of hyperons are analysed under the dynamical self-consistency requirement and the assumption that the nonleptonic decay processes are originated in a driving weak interactions of the current-current type. The hadron currents are assumed to be transformed like an octet component of SU (3). It is shown that the octet enhancement of decay amplitudes can be attributed to the strong interactions. In particular, the qualitatively satisfactory numerical results can be obtained in a model where the s-wave amplitude is enhanced by two levels while the p-wave is by a single level.
