Abstract

An ultra-wide band (UWB) antenna having a notch band is proposed in this article. The antenna structure comprises of a pentagonal radiator loaded with dual stub. The bottom is utilized to enhance the bandwidth while the upper stub is utilized to achieve notch band. The antenna with compact size of 15 × 20 × 0.254 mm 3 operates over 3.1 – 14.7 GHz along with a notch band of 3.8 – 4.7 GHz providing more than 2.3 dBi gain, while it decreases up to -4 dBi in notched band region. Moreover, the wide bandwidth, compact size, simple geometrical structure, high gain and efficiency makes the proposed work a potential candidate for physically small devices.
