Abstract

In this paper we present a novel multiple narrow slits based polarization insensitive metamaterial structure possessing electromagnetic absorption characteristics in C and X band frequencies. The proposed structure have been designed using CST Microwave studio, which shows the metal backed reflection loss of 17 dB and 19.36 dB at 7.30 and 10.80 GHz having percentage absorption of 98% and 98.85% respectively. The proposed metamaterial structure have been fabricated over a flexible polyurethane substrate, measurement for reflection loss have been carried out in an anechoic chamber at the respective frequency bands. A close match between experimental and theoretical results for absorption is observed. The proposed structure has the potential such as multi band absorption and flexibility features makes it a potential candidate for absorber in surveillance and stealth applications.
