Abstract

In this paper we propose an approach to establish a DiffServ-aware multicast tree in a mobile IPv6 network. First, we use a modified Dijkstra algorithm to compute the maximum bandwidth map (MBM) to all nodes. Then, a DiffServ-aware multicast tree can be constructed by referring to the MBM. Each core router in the established multicast tree must maintain a new quality of service (QoS) table in order to forward the received multicast packets to the mobile node (MN). Finally, when a MN moves to a new network, a tunnel must be established in order to satisfy the MN's QoS. The simulation results have shown that the proposed approach has better performance, especially in the case where the traffic is high.
