Abstract
Scientific creationism draws on arguments from a wide range of scientific literature in an attempt to show that the Universe is very young. The major arguments are based on the structure of galaxies, Olbers' Paradox, formation of interstellar grains, redefinition of the travel mode of light, influx of micrometeorites, decay of short-period comets, the Poynting-Robertson Effect, and the dynamics of the Saturnian ring system. Some of these arguments are clearly fallacious and, in some cases, mutually contradictory. Most are oversimplified and neglect other factors that vitiate the creationist age arguments. In no case does a creationist argument stand up to even the most cursory scrutiny in light of the astronomical literature.
