Abstract

The effective stiffness theory for fibre reinforced materials with a hexagonal layout of fibres is presented. The theory is illustrated by the dispersion curves of plane steadystate time-harmonic waves. The limiting phase velocities at vanishing wave numbers serve in the determination of the elastic moduli of the equivalent homogeneous transversely isotropic medium.
