Abstract

Cause-related marketing is an area of marketing that integrates a variety of concepts including promotion, fund raising, and public relations. However, little is known about the underlying reasons for the consumers' attraction to such programs. It is our view that three factors -- type of cause, knowledge about the cause, and relevance of the cause -- are likely to influence consumers' attitude toward this type of program and ultimately the firm sponsoring such programs.
