Abstract
In cellular-based the Internet-of-Things (IoT) networks for connecting a massive number of IoT equipments, random access is regarded as a key uplink transmission method, and the network-wide cost reduction in such an IoT network is crucial. This network cost may be variously customized for downlink and uplink operations, and the key parameters, including the density of data collectors and downlink and uplink transmit power, need to be jointly designed in accordance with the cost model. In this regard, this letter investigates the design for jointly optimizing downlink and uplink operations in terms of minimizing a generalized posynomial-form cost function.
