Abstract

SummaryThe reproductive tracts of three species of Ethiopian hyaenids are discussed. These species are Crocuta crocuta, Hyaena hyaena and Proteles cristatus, this being the first detailed description of the two latter species. The greatest anatomical variations are found between the females of Crocuta crocuta and Hyaena hyaena, while striking similarities are present among the males of Crocuta crocuta, Hyaena hyaena, and Proteles cristatus.
