Abstract

The choice of an efficient dc-dc converter stage plays an important role in its designing, with proper selection of pulse width modulation (PWM) technique. In this paper ac-dc and dc-dc stages are implemented with PWM and asymmetrical pulse width modulation (APWM) technique respectively. The ac-dc stage vanishes the use of front end rectifier w hereas, in second stage there is no use of snubber circuit which helps dc-dc converter stage to decide zero voltage switching (ZVS) during turn-on process and zero current switching (ZCS) during turn-off process of electric vehicle (EV) battery charging. These switching is viable by using APWM and efficiency o f t he c onverter is also increase for 1.2 KW system in comparison with previously proposed PWM technique.
