Abstract

This paper presents a comparison of the performance of direct power control of doubly fed induction generator for wind energy conversion system with PI and PID controller. Direct power control (DPC) technique provides superior performance as compared with the classical field-oriented control method. It provides power quality improvement, improved transient, and steady-state performance. Space vector modulation (SVM) scheme provides constant switching frequency which results in reduced oscillation of power and making system performance robust with the fast response time. At different wind operating condition, the performance of DFIG is compared with two different controller PI and PID. It is observed that after MATLAB simulation, PI controller provides permissible transient, good THD, and power quality improvement.
