Abstract

La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.6Nb0.2O3−δ (LSCFN) and La0.6Sr0.4Fe0.8Nb0.2O3−δ (LSFN) perovskites are prepared for oxygen permeation membranes. The oxygen fluxes of LSCFN and LSFN at 900°C are 0.20mLcm−2min−1 and 0.12mLcm−2min−1, respectively, which are closely related with their oxygen surface exchange and bulk diffusion properties. Importantly, the flux of LSFN under CO2 atmosphere remains steadier than LSCFN, which could be explained by average metal–oxygen bond energy (ABE) of perovskites. The balance between the oxygen permeation and CO2 tolerance of LSFN indicates it a promising candidate as oxygen permeation membrane for oxyfuel application.
