Abstract

Liquid crystal display (LCD) is a kind of display devices which is most commonly used today. As the color space of LCD is device-dependent, characterization of LCD which maps the color space of LCD to CIE standard color space should be performed. In this paper, optoelectronic property and color display principle of LCD are firstly described; then some existing methods of characterization are analyzed; finally, advantages and disadvantages of 3 characterization methods based on 1-dimension look-up table (1D-LUT) are compared by experiments. And it is shown that black-level offset and optimization play important roles in characterization of LCD by comparing the color differences of different methods. In the end, another comparative experiment, in which color reproduction precision in local gamut of models trained by different training samples is compared, is implemented.
