Abstract

Due to a number of advantages, microgrid is getting importance in global energy industry. Among various components, energy storage systems are essential in a renewable integrated microgrid. It has been noted in literature that placement of energy storage in microgrid can influence its operation to wide extent. Post fault voltage recovery time of generator units stands out to be one of the most effected operational parameter. In this paper, this recovery time at generator bus is compared for various battery energy storage system (BESS) placement algorithms. Results show that among various algorithms, voltage sensitivity based one offers grid compatible recovery for multiple distributed generators (DG) in a renewable integrated microgrid.
