Abstract

A marked population growth, added to the notorious increase of the older adult population in comparison with the new generations, are both important demographic phenomena in the 21st century. Two continents, Asia and Latin America, two ways of governing and generating public policies. Even so, they are enough to compare the way in which countries of both continents approach the problem of the elderly. Hence, the paper develops an analysis of the public policies executed in both regions in favour of the elderly. Further more, the paper compares and contrast the policies based on six key amanagement aspects: identification of beneficiaries, supply chain management of public goods, system of information, education and training, monitoring and evaluation systems, graduation and institutional coordination. It is only through the deep study of these components that the comparative analysis will be significant and will be able to provide the reader with an accurate view of the situation in both continents. It is, necessary to use these tools to generate recommendations and to address structural errors and amend them.
