Abstract

Summary Structural geologic information available for the coal-bearing formations in the Black Warrior basin documents the occurrence of numerous fault and fracture zones. A combination air/fluid drilling technique may be advantageous to coalbed-methane operations in this and other areas with similar hydrologie and geologic conditions. We successfully used this technique recently on coalbed-methane wells in Tuscaloosa County, AL.
