Abstract

In fall 1967, the Education Improvement Project of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools inaugurated special compensatory education centers on the campuses of eleven predominantly Negro colleges and junior colleges located in seven southeastern states. Designated the College Education Achievement Project (CEAP)', its purpose was to help poorly prepared students improve communication skills and develop better study habits and attitudes toward education to increase their chances of survival in a college academic program.
