Abstract

In the transition to chaos via type V intermittency, when a periodic motion loses stability, there may be no intermediate higher-period orbits displayed before chaos or a sequential such orbits that form a staircase. The staircase may take a form of a conventional devil's staircase, a multiple devil's staircase or a seemingly irregular form. This article briefly presents typical examples for these situations.
