Abstract

Summary The Sutterby Marl (Upper Aptian) in a cored borehole sequence at Skegness, Lincolnshire, disconformably overlies clay containing a basal Aptian ammonite fauna ( Prodeshayesites bodei Subzone of the P. fissicostatus Zone). The junction of this latter clay, here termed the Skegness Clay, with the underlying Roach (Barremian) is conformable and provides the best section across the Barremian-Aptian boundary described to date in Britain.
