Abstract
In this paper, we propose a new method to reduce blocking effects in subband/wavelet image coding. Unlike the traditional postprocessing approaches, by using the block shifting method, the blocks in different bands are coded with different shifting positions. After subband/wavelet reconstruction, the block edges of different bands can be separated to reduce blocking effects. The simulation results are demonstrated to verify the proposed method.
