Abstract
The measurement of the birefringence when the optic axes of the beam incident on the object and of the beam reflected from the object coincide, is considered. An instrument is described which uses balancing of the fluxes of the mutual orthogonal components of the polarization of the reflected beam. It is shown that this method suitably combined high measurement accuracy and practical simplicity.
